The Member of Parliament for Yendi, Alhassan Abdul Fataw Jofa, has donated 1,500 mono desks to the Ghana Education Service (GES) to ease furniture shortages affecting schools in the municipality.
The intervention is expected to improve classroom conditions in schools where inadequate furniture has forced some pupils to share desks, while others sit on classroom floors during lessons.
The shortage has raised concerns about the learning environment in affected schools, with school authorities indicating that the conditions could undermine effective teaching and learning.
Presenting the desks to the Yendi Municipal Education Directorate, Mr Jofa said the donation reflected his commitment to supporting education and improving learning outcomes in the municipality.
He pledged to continue supporting initiatives aimed at addressing challenges confronting schools and creating a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
Receiving the furniture on behalf of the Ghana Education Service, Deputy Director of Education in charge of Human Resource at the Yendi Municipal Education Directorate, Akolgo, expressed gratitude to the MP for the intervention.
He said the desks would help improve classroom conditions and assured that measures would be taken to ensure they were properly maintained.
The furniture is expected to be distributed to schools across the municipality to help address the shortage.
