Nigerian media personality Kiki Osinbajo has challenged men who believe women must submit to them simply because they are men, insisting that marriage does not give husbands authority over every woman they encounter.

Kiki criticised arguments suggesting that women should automatically defer to men regardless of their relationship with them.

She was particularly displeased with a podcast discussion in which a young man reportedly argued that a woman should respect a man in a disagreement simply because he is male.

Kiki questioned the reasoning behind such expectations, making it clear that she did not believe marriage or gender entitled men to demand submission from women who were not their wives.

“God never said we should submit to everybody else’s husband. He said submit to your own husband,” she said in a video shared on X.

She argued that men who expect submission from women outside their marriages should reconsider what they are demanding and direct their expectations towards their own relationships.

“So for crying out loud, I’m a man, talk to me like I’m a man. I’m a man, bro,” she said, dismissing the argument that being male should automatically command a particular form of deference.

Kiki then delivered a blunt message to men who expect women generally to submit to them.

“You can’t be expecting every woman to be submitted to you outside. Go home and get your submission. Please don’t stress,” she said.

She also urged such men to respect themselves rather than create unnecessary confrontations with women over what they consider their rightful position.

“Respect yourself. Please and please, respect yourself. Don’t look for my trouble, please,” Kiki added.

The media personality acknowledged that she was trying to remain respectful despite her frustration with some of the discussions she had watched online.

“I’m doing my best. I’m trying to stay respectful, but go home, boo,” she said.
