A woman identified as Abena Ampomaa, from Adumang in the Ashanti Region, has publicly pleaded for forgiveness from her husband, Shaibu Mohammed, after confessing that two of the three children he has been raising throughout their 14-year marriage are not biologically his.
According to Abena, she had extramarital affairs with two other men during her marriage, resulting in the birth of two children.
She explained that she became pregnant for another man before marrying her husband, popularly known as Chief but only discovered the pregnancy after their marriage.
Abena further revealed that misunderstandings in their marriage compelled her to seek financial support from another man because her husband was allegedly not providing for her needs. She claimed that the relationship subsequently resulted in another pregnancy.
The matter came to public attention when Abena appeared on Oyerepa Afutuo, a programme aired on Oyerepa TV that addresses domestic and marital disputes, on October 20, 2026.
“I came here this afternoon to beg my husband, Shaibu Mohammed, to forgive me my sins,” she said.
Abena explained that although she knew two of the children were not biologically her husband’s, fear prevented her from disclosing the truth earlier.
“I couldn’t keep it anymore, so despite my fear, I decided to tell him. When I finally confessed, he said he had heard me. He then asked why I hadn’t told him earlier and I explained that I was afraid,” she recounted.
She disclosed that the two children whose paternity is in dispute are currently 14 and 11 years old.
According to Abena, her confession triggered a series of threats and curses from her husband, who allegedly vowed to prevent anyone, including the children’s biological fathers, from assisting her financially.
She further alleged that her husband threatened to cause her father’s death, a threat she believes was connected to his subsequent passing about two weeks before her appearance on the programme.
“He said he wouldn’t allow anybody to help me and if any of the men I have children with comes into my life, he will kill him. He also said he would make my father fall sick. My father subsequently fell sick and died about two weeks ago. I know I have wronged him and I am sorry,” she said.
Overwhelmed by the situation, Abena appealed to her husband for forgiveness.
“Please, let all spirits, heaven and earth bear witness that I have wronged you. Please forgive me,” she pleaded.
She further alleged that her husband had vowed to withdraw financial support from the children as punishment for the years he had spent raising them.
“My husband told me that he had taken care of the children for 12 years, so he would no longer provide for them for the next 12 years. He said I should also suffer by taking care of them myself. However, he would not allow anyone to come close to them and if anybody or my baby daddies attempted to help, he would kill that person,” she alleged.
The controversy took another turn when Shaibu Mohammed, popularly known as Chief, was contacted during the programme.
During the telephone conversation, Chief claimed responsibility for the death of his father-in-law, identified as Mr Nyame, an SDA church leader, whom he accused of conspiring with his daughter to conceal the children’s true paternity.
According to Chief, his late father-in-law was aware that two of the children were not biologically his but deliberately withheld the information.
He further alleged that the deceased had changed the name he had given to one of the children without his knowledge or consent.
Chief also accused Abena’s parents of secretly receiving money from the children’s biological fathers while their daughter continued living with him as his wife.
Expressing his anger and disappointment, Chief claimed that he had invoked spiritual curses against the family and would not withdraw them until he received compensation for the years he had spent raising the children.
He further threatened that anyone who participated in his father-in-law’s burial would suffer a similar fate.
“Where I have taken this issue to is too far and anybody who buries your father will be the next person. I am deeply hurt after taking care of all three children. I don’t even know whether the last one is biologically mine. If I tell you that I have no hand in your father’s death, then that is not true,” he declared.
Chief also demanded DNA tests for all three children to establish their biological paternity before any reconciliation could take place.
He insisted that he would calculate the total amount he had spent raising the children and demand compensation before agreeing to settle the dispute.
“I want DNA tests conducted on all three children. After that, I will calculate all the expenses I have incurred in raising them and demand compensation before agreeing to settle this issue,” he stated.
He further issued a chilling threat against Abena and her family, warning of more deaths if his demands were not met.
“If this issue is not settled, I will make sure all your family members die one after another and you will be the last person to die,” he threatened.
