Works on the Jinijini-Sampa Road Project in the Berekum West District of the Bono Region has slowed down due to the theft of construction materials.

The contractor, Rango Construction Limited, said that the theft of gravel at some sections of the road is slowing down construction activities and could affect the pace at which work progresses if the situation is not addressed.

The Jinijini-Sampa Road Project forms part of the government’s Big Push infrastructure programme, which is aimed at improving road networks and enhancing connectivity across the country.

Public Relations Officer of Rango Construction Limited, Felix Agyei, disclosed the concern at a ceremony at Jinijini, where the Berekum West District Assembly presented working tools, equipment and other forms of assistance to 57 Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).

Felix Agyei said the theft of materials from sections of the road was creating challenges for the construction team and called on residents in communities along the project corridor to support efforts to protect materials intended for the development of the road.

He said the availability and proper management of construction materials were essential to ensuring that work proceeded as planned.

The Jinijini-Sampa Road Project is expected to improve transportation along the corridor, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and support  economic activities in the beneficiary communities.

Mr Agyei further expressed optimism about the completion of the project, stating that the project was expected to be completed by the end of 2028.

He, however, urged residents to help protect construction materials and other resources being deployed to the site to ensure that the project proceeded without unnecessary setbacks.
