Prophet Joshua Adjei has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to consider releasing Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, from prison, warning of possible consequences if the embattled New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman remains in custody.
In a video shared on TikTok, the prophet claimed to have received a spiritual warning concerning Wontumi’s future and urged the President to intervene. He alleged that the politician could die at Nsawam Prison within the next 55 days if steps were not taken to secure his release.
Prophet Adjei expressed concern about what he described as Wontumi’s health condition, claiming that the politician could develop serious complications affecting his ability to urinate and pass stool. However, the claims made in the video have not been independently verified, and no medical evidence was provided to substantiate the alleged health risks.
The prophet further warned that Ghana could experience significant public tension if his prediction came to pass. He claimed that President Mahama could face strong public backlash and regret the situation if Wontumi died while in custody.
His comments have brought renewed attention to the circumstances surrounding Wontumi’s imprisonment and calls by some individuals for authorities to consider his situation.
Wontumi, a prominent figure in the NPP, has been at the centre of legal proceedings that have attracted considerable public and political interest. His case has generated discussions about the judicial process, the rights of detained persons and the importance of ensuring that individuals in custody receive appropriate medical attention when necessary.
Nevertheless, a decision on his release rests with the relevant judicial authorities and must be guided by applicable laws and legal procedures rather than unverified predictions.
Prophet Adjei’s appeal is likely to generate further debate among political supporters and members of the public, particularly over the intersection of religious prophecy, politics and the administration of justice.
For now, his prediction remains an unverified claim, and there is no established evidence that Wontumi will die within the period mentioned by the prophet.
