The Federation of Ghana Medical Students’ Associations (FGMSA) says it has initiated legal action over the Medical and Dental Council’s Common Registration Examination (CRE) and its implications for graduating medical and dental students.
In a press statement issued by the National Executive Council of FGMSA on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the federation said the action reflects concerns about the implementation of the examination and its impact on students approaching professional qualification and registration.
The federation did not disclose details of the legal proceedings or specify the particular aspects of the examination being challenged.
It said it remained committed to constructive engagement, fairness and due process, as well as protecting the legitimate interests of students within Ghana’s medical and dental education system.
With the matter now before the court, FGMSA said it would refrain from commenting further on issues that could prejudice the proceedings.
The federation also urged the public, stakeholders and the media to allow the judicial process to proceed without speculation.
It assured the public that further developments would be communicated through its official channels when appropriate.
The Common Registration Examination is associated with the professional registration process for medical and dental practitioners in Ghana. The legal action comes as affected graduating students approach the transition from academic training to professional practice.
