President John Dramani Mahama has visited former President John Agyekum Kufuor at his residence to check on his well-being and discuss national and international issues.
Mahama disclosed the visit in a statement, saying: “I passed by the residence of President JA Kufuor this afternoon to check on him and find out how he’s doing and also discuss some national and international issues.”

The visit took place on Monday, October 19, 2026, at Kufuor’s residence. Photographs shared alongside Mahama’s post showed the two leaders together during the meeting.
Kufuor served as Ghana’s President from January 2001 to January 2009 after winning two consecutive elections on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Born on December 8, 1938, in Kumasi, he was the second President of Ghana’s Fourth Republic.
During his presidency, his administration introduced the National Health Insurance Scheme, the Capitation Grant to support basic education and the National School Feeding Programme. He also served as Chairperson of the African Union from 2007 to 2008.

Kufuor handed over power to the late John Evans Atta Mills of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in January 2009 following the 2008 general election, marking a peaceful transfer of power between the two major political parties.
