Former Education Ministry spokesperson, Kwasi Kwarteng, has disclosed why he declined an offer to serve as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Deputy National Communications Director.
In a post shared on his Facebook page on October 27, 2026, he said the party’s leadership, including the National Chairman, General Secretary and National Youth Organiser, contacted him about the role.
According to him, although he was grateful for the recognition, he chose to decline the offer because he believed he could contribute to the party in other areas.
“To be fair, I was contacted by the party’s leadership, through the National Chairman, General Secretary and National Youth Organiser, regarding the role of Deputy National Communications Director.
“I was grateful for the recognition but respectfully declined, believing I can serve the party better in other areas,” he wrote.
Kwarteng, however, reaffirmed his commitment to the NPP, saying his focus remained on supporting the party’s efforts to make its flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the next President of Ghana.
“My commitment remains firm, and my focus is on contributing meaningfully to the NPP’s efforts to make Dr Bawumia the next President of Ghana,” he added.
His disclosure comes amid the appointment of new members to the party’s communications team.
Some of the appointees include Gordon Asare-Bediako, Jennifer Oforiwaa, Queen Ellen, Ama Daaku, Awal Mohammed, Krobea Kwabena Asante, Stephen Kwesi Can Acquah, popularly known as Mayor Carlos, and Issah Mohammed.
