United Party’s Director of Field Operations, Hopeson Adorye, has alleged that the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Justin Frimpong Kodua, was pressured to expel him from the party.
Speaking on Adom FM on October 27, 2026, he said the party expelled him without inviting him to appear before a disciplinary committee to respond to the allegations against him over his support for leader of United Party, Alan Kyerematen.
According to him, although he had intended to vote for Alan Kyerematen in the 2024 general election, he planned to vote for the NPP in the parliamentary elections.
Adorye said his comments were published by a newspaper and Gabby Otchere-Darko, a prominent NPP figure, contacted him to confirm whether he had made the comments attributed to him.
“Alan was out of the contest. I was in Belgium and Denmark working for the NPP, so, I said I would vote for Alan, but in the parliamentary elections, I would vote for the NPP,” he recounted.
He maintained that he was not given a disciplinary hearing before the party expelled him in late 2023 over his open support for Kyerematen, who had left the NPP to pursue an independent presidential bid.
“I was not invited to appear before any disciplinary committee. It was Justin Kodua who was pressured to expel me from the party”, he recounted.
Adorye was expelled with three others, Nana Ohene Ntow, Yaw Buaben Asamoa and Boniface Abubakar Saddique were expelled from the NPP over their public endorsement of a presidential aspirant other than the party’s elected flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The NPP said their actions breached the party’s constitution.
