An illegal electricity connection has caused fire at Livingston’s Junction, popularly known as Tornado House, at Boadua in the Denkyembour District.

The incident led to the destruction of three electricity meters and damaging electrical wiring.

The incident was attended to by personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at the Akwatia Fire Station, who brought the fire under control and extinguished it.

Preliminary investigations by the fire service indicate that the illegal connection triggered the incident, raising concerns about the potential dangers associated with unauthorized electrical installations.

The fire also prompted firefighters to educate the landlord and tenants on basic fire prevention measures, including the importance of keeping a functional fire extinguisher on the premises and knowing how to use it in an emergency.

The incident highlights the risks that unsafe electrical connections can pose to lives and property, particularly in residential buildings where faulty wiring can quickly turn into a fire hazard.
