The interdicted headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, Zakaria Abdulai, has pledged to pursue all lawful avenues to clear his name following allegations of sexual misconduct involving female students.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 20, Mr Abdulai thanked friends, relatives and well-wishers who have continued to support him, saying he intends to focus on clearing his name as investigations into the allegations proceed.
“I intend to devote my attention and resources to pursuing all lawful avenues to clear my name and vindicate my position,” he said.
Mr Abdulai also expressed hope of returning to active political engagement after the matter has been resolved. He recently resigned as Juaben Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and withdrew his candidature for the constituency chairmanship.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the NDC’s ideals and aspirations.
The allegations reportedly involve more than 14 female students and have prompted calls for accountability and a thorough investigation.
The Ministry of Education has referred the matter to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service for investigation.
