The allegations are the subject of ongoing investigations and have not been conclusively established in court.
Police outline investigation
In a statement issued in October, the CID disclosed that its Director-General had received a petition from Nana Akua Addo on August 20, 2026, alleging that her husband had subjected her to physical, emotional and economic abuse.
The Police said preliminary investigations revealed that a case involving the couple had previously been handled by DOVVSU at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.
Harold Norman was subsequently arrested at his residence on August 27 to assist with investigations. According to the Police, investigators obtained a caution statement from him before granting him police enquiry bail with two sureties on August 29, while investigations continued.
He was expected to appear before court on October 7, but his lawyer informed the Police that he had been admitted to hospital and could not attend. DOVVSU investigators visited the hospital to verify the claim and said they were monitoring the situation to ensure he was brought before the court after his discharge.
The CID also said it was working with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to ensure that Nana Akua Addo and the children received appropriate social welfare support. The Police reaffirmed their commitment to investigating domestic violence complaints professionally and fairly.
