The National Identification Authority (NIA) has introduced an online Ghana Card replacement service for Ghanaians in 11 countries, enabling them to replace their cards without travelling to Ghana.
The NIA’s Executive Secretary, Wisdom Yayra Koku Deku, announced the new service in a Facebook post on Monday, October 19, 2026, noting that it had been integrated into the Authority’s online application portal.
The service covers Ghanaians residing in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, France, Italy, Belgium, Germany and Denmark.
Applicants can access the service through the NIA’s online portal at register. nia.gov.gh, offering Ghanaians abroad a more convenient way to obtain replacement cards.
Mr Deku also disclosed that the service was available at all Prestige 24/7 Centres located at Labone, Sakumono, Bantama and Suame. The Amakom Prestige 24/7 Centre is expected to offer the service in the coming days.
Ghanaians who prefer to visit a Premium Centre can also apply for card replacement through the online portal.
The Authority is expected to introduce an online update service soon as it continues to expand its digital services.
The NIA says the initiative forms part of its commitment to making its services more efficient and accessible to Ghanaians.
