A woman has sparked debate on social media after questioning why some women act as though they are doing men a special favour whenever they agree to have sex with them.

In a statement shared on the official Facebook account of MKD Cornelius, she expressed concern about how some people view intimacy in romantic relationships, arguing that sexual relationships can be enjoyable for both men and women.

She questioned why some women behave as though men are the only ones who benefit from sexual encounters, suggesting that intimacy should not always be presented as a favour or reward that a woman grants to a man, particularly when both partners willingly participate.

Her remarks have drawn attention to differing opinions about sex, relationship expectations and the responsibilities partners have towards each other.

In some relationships, disagreements arise when one partner expects the other to feel grateful simply for agreeing to engage in intimacy. Such attitudes can create tension, especially when couples have different expectations regarding affection, commitment and personal boundaries.

The woman’s comments have also raised questions about how people’s experiences, values and beliefs influence their attitudes towards sexual relationships.

While some people may support her argument that both partners can benefit from intimacy, others may emphasise that individuals have different perspectives and personal reasons for making decisions about sex. Regardless of these differences, nobody should feel pressured into sexual activity.

Her statement has consequently opened up further discussions about mutual enjoyment, respect and expectations between romantic partners.

Ultimately, healthy relationships depend on honest communication, mutual understanding and respect for personal boundaries. Intimacy should be based on the willing consent of both partners rather than pressure, entitlement or the belief that one person owes the other sexual gratification.

The discussion has provided social media users with another opportunity to share their views on intimacy and expectations in modern relationships.
