Ghanaian musician Iona Reine has raised concerns about alleged sexual misconduct involving some pastors, claiming that certain religious leaders engage in behaviour that contradicts the moral standards they promote in their congregations.

Speaking in an interview on Aluta FM, the musician made a series of allegations against some pastors, including claims of inappropriate sexual relationships with female church members and alleged incidents of sexual assault within church premises.

According to Iona, such alleged conduct can undermine the trust congregants place in religious leaders and discourage some people from attending church.

“That is why, on the day God descends, He will start from His own house because He knows that many pastors are involved in all kinds of nasty things,” she said.

The musician also alleged that some pastors engage in homosexual acts involving male church members. However, the claims were not accompanied by independently verified evidence in the account of the interview.

Iona further claimed that some female church members are invited to pastors’ offices under seemingly ordinary circumstances, where they are allegedly subjected to inappropriate conduct.

She expressed concern about the potential abuse of authority and trust in religious settings, arguing that individuals who occupy positions of spiritual leadership should be held accountable for their conduct.

The musician also stated that she would be willing to expose a pastor she believed was engaging in such behaviour, regardless of her personal relationship with the individual.

She maintained that her willingness to speak out would extend even to a situation involving her own husband.

Iona Reine was married to Pastor Nana Kwame Okrah in 2024. However, during an interview in 2026, she disclosed that their marriage had ended.

Her remarks have drawn attention to concerns surrounding professional and ethical boundaries in religious institutions, as well as the importance of safeguarding congregants from sexual abuse and exploitation.

It is important to note that the allegations outlined above are claims attributed to Iona Reine during the interview. The specific incidents have not been independently verified in the available account, and no findings of wrongdoing by any particular pastor have been established in the material cited.

Allegations of sexual assault are serious and should be assessed on the basis of credible evidence and appropriate investigations, while respecting the rights of all parties involved.
