Stonebwoy’s Head of Public Relations, Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng, has criticised rapper Sarkodie over his comments about a controversial video involving amputees, describing his response to the backlash as irresponsible.

Speaking in an interview with DJ Slim on Class FM on October 26, 2026, emphasising her displeasure with Sarkodie’s reported stance, Vida challenged the rapper to share the video again.

“I dare him; he should post it again,” she declared.

Vida said she did not initially blame Sarkodie for his comments, arguing that people without physical disabilities could sometimes overlook the challenges faced by persons with disabilities.

However, she said the situation required greater sensitivity, particularly because persons with disabilities in Ghana continue to face discrimination and difficulties accessing public spaces and entertainment venues.

“I don’t blame Sarkodie for those comments because when you’re able to walk with both legs, when you’re able to move both hands, you tend to relegate a lot of important things to the background,” she said.

Vida credited Stonebwoy with drawing attention to the challenges faced by persons with disabilities, particularly members of Ghana’s amputee football team, the Black Challenge.

She noted that many people are unaware of the team’s existence and said its members faced difficulties in both their personal and professional lives.

“It takes somebody like Stonebwoy to draw your attention to the fact that it’s rubbish for you to say this because these guys have challenges. We have venues across the country where we don’t have places where people can even wheel their chairs and get to enjoy a show. They are highly discriminated against in the country,” she stated.

She continued, “This is a national team. Look at the attention we give to the black star and this is a black challenge. I mean, somebody told me it was the first time they ever heard that they even have an amputee team and even their name is black challenge. These guys face a lot of problems in their personal lives and their professional lives. So, at every point in time, we need to have that inclusive conversation.”

Vida also highlighted Stonebwoy’s efforts to make his shows accessible to persons with disabilities, explaining that designated areas were provided to accommodate people using wheelchairs and others who required assistance.

According to her, the initiative reflects the need to ensure that persons with disabilities can enjoy entertainment events alongside other patrons.

“For Stonebwoy, anytime we have a show, we designate an area for the disabled to also come in. So, whether you have wheelchairs, whatever assistance that you have, there’s always a place designated for you to have that feel. You can just walk in with your wheelchair and enjoy the show like everybody else.

“Stonebwoy wants to draw attention to the fact that you are still alive. You could be in a wheelchair tomorrow. Look at how we drive on our roads. Anything can happen, so there’s always that constant reminder,” she shared.

She added that Stonebwoy consistently reminds people that anyone could become disabled because of an accident or other unforeseen circumstances, urging the public to be mindful of how they speak about people facing such challenges.

“I thank Stonebwoy all the time for reminding people that anything can happen to you. So whenever you have the opportunity, make sure that you do not speak against those who are already suffering,” she said.

The PR executive, however, took particular issue with Sarkodie’s reported comments during an interview with Serwaa Amihere, in which he indicated that he would repost the controversial video if given another opportunity.

Vida said Sarkodie could have acknowledged the concerns raised and apologised if his post had hurt or offended anyone, rather than insisting that nobody could dictate what he posted on social media.

“For the first time, I could pardon him by going on the Serwaa Amihere interview and reiterating that if he didn’t have the chance to post it again, he would. That was an irresponsible statement,” she noted.

She argued that a more considerate response would have involved listening to those who felt affected by the post and addressing their concerns.

“The best you could have done was tell the person, ‘I didn’t know from the start that this was attributable to you. If this is how you felt, Charlie, let me back it down and apologise or let me say, oh, it won’t happen again’,” she stated.

Vida added, “But for you to repeat and say nobody can tell you what to post and how you feel about certain things, how you feel about this post will not deter me from posting it again.”
