Nawara says repeated appeals to the Minerals Commission, the Lands Minister and other state institutions over an alleged takeover of its mining concession have yet to yield an official response.

The company’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Doris Attoh, made the disclosure on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, saying the dispute, which began on August 12, 2026, has prevented the company from accessing its concession and offices.

According to Ms Attoh, Nawara has formally petitioned several institutions, including the Minerals Commission, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) and the Presidency.

She said the company had also brought the matter to the attention of parliamentary caucuses, regional ministers and other relevant authorities.

“We have written countless letters to the Minerals Commission, petitioned the Lands Minister and reached out to the CID, the Chief of the Defence Staff and the Presidency. All the relevant authorities have been duly served, but we have not received an official response,” she said.

Ms Attoh alleged that CMS Pro and AA Construction had taken control of Nawara’s concession and offices, despite the company holding a mining lease that she said was recently ratified by Parliament.

She maintained that the Minerals Commission is responsible for granting mining concessions and questioned the basis for the alleged takeover in the absence of documents presented to the company.

The Corporate Affairs Manager further claimed that the police were aware of the situation, specifically mentioning the Kibi Police Station.

“The Kibi Police Station is aware of what is happening, and the police know about the situation at the concession,” she said.

She added that the company had not received an official response despite its attempts to engage the relevant authorities.

Mrs Attoh also alleged that Alfred Mahama had acknowledged sending individuals to the concession after Nawara’s Managing Director contacted him.

The company says the continued occupation has disrupted its mining operations and raised serious security concerns.

Mrs Attoh alleged that three people had been killed and more than 10 injured in connection with the dispute.
