The Sankore Health Centre in the Ahafo Region has been upgraded to polyclinic status in a move expected to improve access to healthcare and enhance service delivery in the area.
Acting Medical Superintendent of the facility, Dr Kenneth Apeti Atiadze, said the new status would expand the range of services covered by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) and improve the facility’s capacity to care for patients.

Speaking to Adom News, he explained that the upgrade would bring financial benefits, particularly in the treatment of children admitted to the facility.
He said the NHIA would cover children admitted for any number of days, while the facility was also expected to receive adequate supplies of medicines to support healthcare delivery.
Dr Atiadze said the changes would help improve patient care and enable the facility to provide more effective services to residents.
The Asunafo South District Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Kwadwo Ansong, and the Mawirehene of Sankore, Nana Agyemang Duah, also welcomed the upgrade, describing it as an important development for healthcare delivery in the community.

They noted that the elevation had been accompanied by the deployment of doctors and adequate nursing staff, which they said would strengthen the facility’s ability to attend to patients.
They urged health workers to take advantage of the improved status and resources to provide quality healthcare and ensure patients receive the best possible care.
