The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has assured investors of clear regulations and fair administration as Ghana reforms its mineral governance to ensure citizens receive a fairer share of the wealth generated from the sector.

He affirmed government’s commitment to creating a stable and predictable investment environment, with respect for lawful agreements and open engagement with investors as the reforms progress.

Speaking at the 2026 Mining in Motion Conference on Monday, October 19, Mr Buah acknowledged that investors require certainty and commercially viable projects to justify their investments. He assured them that the government would continue working with industry players to ensure mining projects remain bankable and deliver reasonable returns.

However, he stressed that the success of the mining sector must also be measured by its impact on Ghanaians, particularly through job creation, skills development, opportunities for local businesses and environmental protection.

“Our citizens have equally legitimate expectations. They want jobs, skills, opportunities for local enterprise, protection of the environment and a fair share of the prosperity produced from their own resources,” he said.

He called on investors to align their operations with Ghana’s development objectives, stressing that the government expected partnerships to deliver benefits for both businesses and the communities whose resources sustain their operations.

“The invitation is straightforward. Come and invest. Come and build with us. Let us negotiate fairly, honour our commitments and work for outcomes that benefit both the investor and the host countries,” he said.

The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to constructive engagement with investors, saying the ongoing reforms were intended to improve mineral governance while ensuring the sector contributes more meaningfully to national development.
